ABOUT DR. LAWRENCE A. CZELUSTA
Dr. Lawrence A. Czelusta has been practicing sports and family podiatry for more than thirty years in the San Antonio, Texas area. He holds a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine, and a physical therapy degree from New York University. Before becoming a podiatrist, Dr. Czelusta practiced physical therapy at Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, New York and at Girling's Home Health Care in San Antonio, and was Head of Physical Therapy at St. Mary's Help Hospital in Daly City, California. He received a Fellowship in Sports Medicine from the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine in 1982.
In addition to providing family foot care, Dr. Czelusta is widely recognized as one of the nation's leading practitioners of sports podiatry. His sports injury diagnoses and treatments are supplemented by his own successful athletic career as a runner, cyclist, and duathlete. Dr. Czelusta understands the injured athlete's desire to quickly return to sport, and he is better able to treat sports injuries because he is an athlete himself.
Highlights of Dr. Czelusta's ongoing athletic career are numerous. His personal best marathon time is 2 hours and 33 minutes, and he has competed in numerous events at local, state, national, and international levels. Dr. Czelusta has won multiple gold medals in in State Senior Olympic competitions and bronze, silver and gold medals in Senior Olympic National Cycling. He is a three time National Champion Duathlete. In 2007, he won the ITU Age Group Long Course Duathlon World Champhionship. Dr. Czelusta was recognized as the USAT Grand Master Duathlete of the Year in both 2006 and 2007.
Dr. Czelusta lives in northeast San Antonio with his wife Peggy. As a hobby (and to share with patients) he grows fruits and vegetables using sustainable farming methods.
